Odvetniki Šelih & partnerji is the successor of the former Law Office Šelih, which was established in 1961. Since the establishment, the firm has grown considerably to develop into one of the leading Slovenian commercial law practices, thereby maintaining its commitment to excellent legal services. The clients of Šelih & Partners include domestic and foreign banks and other financial institutions, insurance companies, multinational corporations and other legal entities. They have access to a team of professional lawyers who can offer legal assistance on all aspects of commercial law.
The lawyers are well placed to respond to industry specifics and offer swift and tailor-made business-oriented legal services to every single client. As Chambers Global 2007 notes, clients value the firm’s “real strength across the board” in matters such as joint ventures, M&A and company formations. The clients also noted that the team is “well prepared and easy to co-operate with”, “will always make itself available to guide you through an unexpected crisis” and “you can always rely on them to be straight down the line with their advice, and to make sure it is comprehensible” (Chambers Europe 2007).
The firm’s success is founded upon the professionalism, analytical sense and dynamism of each individual in the team. Four partners have assembled a team of 17 creative and diligent lawyers to work in concert for the client’s behalf. As Legal 500 2007 mentions, the firm has been recruiting selectively at associate level to meet demand. In addition to corporate and commercial law, M&A and insurance & banking law, Nina Šelih mostly specializes in telecommunications & energy law and procurement law, and Nataša Pipan Nahtigal mostly specializes in competition law, securities law and IP. Gregor Simoniti and Helena Vranič are mostly engaged in litigation & arbitration and employment law. In addition, Gregor Simoniti is an expert in real estate law and transactions and Helena Vranič works in the telecommunications & energy law and environmental law. Mia Kalaš’s main area of expertise is real estate law and transactions and Boštjan Kavšek specializes in employment law. Rudi Šelih, a prominent lawyer and the former chairman of the Slovenian and Yugoslav Bar Association, is still a valuable consultant of the firm.
The firm closely cooperates with a range of leading European and
